We are more than happy to announce the launch of the newly developed breakout rooms of edudip next! With the new software feature, you now have the opportunity to split your webinar into any number of separate interactive sessions to allow participants to work in smaller groups.

Update: New breakout room features

As we promised you further features, here they are: From now on you can create any number of breakout rooms to also be able to divide larger groups of participants. The desired number of rooms can be created spontaneously during the webinar  or meeting and moderators now have the option to choose between an automatic or manual assignment of their participants.

Small rooms, big possibilities

Make online courses, webinars and trainings even more interactive with the new breakout rooms from edudip next. With the beta version of the new breakout rooms, nothing stands in the way of efficient work in small groups, so let’s get started!

This is how it works

From now on you have the opportunity to create any number of breakout rooms for your webinar or meeting. The desired number of group rooms can be created spontaneously during the webinar. 


In order to activate the breakout rooms for your participants and to enable working in small groups, you must first start the webinar or meeting. Once the event has started, the “Breakout rooms” button appears at the top right of the screen. Clicking the button opens an overview of the available breakout room settings.

Once the webinar has started, the “Breakout rooms” button appears at the top right of the screen. To release the number of group rooms you have defined in advance for your participants and to enable them to work in small groups, open the breakout rooms by clicking on the button.

 

Start Breakout Rooms


After you have opened the group rooms as a moderator, the list with the available group rooms opens. Your participants can now also call up the list with the number of group rooms you have defined via the “Breakout rooms” button.

 

Manual or automatic distribution of your participants?

First of all, you can decide whether you want to distribute your participants randomly or manually to the breakout rooms.

If you have chosen the random distribution of participants, a window will open with the available settings. Now you can either divide your participants into any number of breakout rooms or define the number of participants per group room. After activating the breakout rooms, the participants will be randomly assigned.

If there is a remainder of your participants left over from the division, you will be asked again according to which principle these participants should be divided.

If you opt for manual division, your participants can call up the list with the number of group rooms you have specified. After you have opened the group rooms as a moderator, the list with the available group rooms opens. 

By clicking on one of the rooms, the moderator and participants will enter the selected room. It is important that you and your participants discuss in advance who will move to which group room.

 

Choose Breakout Room

 

 

Within the breakout rooms you have a variety of functions at your disposal: Slide presentation, drawing tools, screen sharing and chat function provide a unique, interactive and customisable learning experience.

Once the group work is finished, moderators and co-moderators have the option to close the group rooms again via the “Stop rooms” button. Webinar participants are then notified that the breakout rooms have been closed and switch back to the main room.

It gets even better!

With the new beta version of the breakout rooms, nothing will stand in the way of efficient work in small groups! For even more success, interaction and fun while learning, further innovations are on the agenda for the breakout rooms in the future. You can look forward to a variety of other planned features:

 

  • Timer function: Set the time for the scheduled group work. The timer running down will inform your participants about the remaining time.
  • File upload: Upload files not only in the respective breakout room, but also share documents across rooms.
  • Cross-room communication: Communicate with your participants from any room to easily clarify any questions.
